Introduction
One of the greatest struggles people face is the feeling of being unnoticed. Many feel forgotten by family, rejected by friends, overlooked at work, or abandoned in difficult seasons. Yet the Bible reveals a comforting truth: God sees every person. He knows our joys, our tears, our struggles, and our hopes.
Hagar was a servant who found herself in a painful situation. She fled into the wilderness, feeling rejected and alone. But when everyone else overlooked her, God found her. In that lonely place, she encountered the Lord and called Him "El Roi", meaning "The God Who Sees Me."
The same God still sees His children today.
1. God Sees Your Pain
Hagar was running away because of mistreatment. She believed no one cared about her suffering, but God met her in the wilderness.
Psalm 34:18 says:
"The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
Your pain is not hidden from God. Every tear you have cried is known to Him. He is not indifferent to your suffering.
2. God Sees Your Faithfulness
Many believers faithfully serve God without recognition from people. Others labour in their homes, churches, or workplaces with little appreciation.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:4:
"Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
Never stop doing good because people fail to notice you. Heaven keeps perfect records, and God never forgets faithful service.
3. God Sees Your Needs
Before Hagar asked for help, God already knew what she needed.
Jesus also taught in Matthew 6:32:
"Your heavenly Father knows that you need them."
God is never surprised by your financial challenges, family concerns, health issues, or unanswered prayers. He knows your needs before you speak them.
4. God Sees Your Future
God instructed Hagar to return and promised that her descendants would become a great nation.
What looked like the end of her story was actually the beginning of God's greater plan.
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us:
"For I know the plans I have for you... plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Your current situation does not determine your final destination. God has already prepared tomorrow while you are living through today.
Lessons to Learn
God's presence is not limited by your location.
No one is too insignificant for God's attention.
God's timing is always perfect.
Every trial can become a testimony when God steps into it.
Trust God even when you cannot yet understand His plan.
Conclusion
Hagar entered the wilderness feeling rejected, but she left with a new understanding of God's character. She discovered that the Lord is the God who sees.
Perhaps today you feel forgotten, disappointed, or invisible. Be encouraged. The same God who found Hagar knows exactly where you are. He sees your prayers, your sacrifices, your struggles, and your future. Continue trusting Him, because His eyes are always upon His children.
